Gokyo Renjola Pass Trek Overview

Gokyo to Renjola Pass Trek is an attractive yet challenging and adventurous trekking destination in the Khumbu region that fills your heart with the utmost joy and excitement. Renjo La Pass Trek offers a rare but classic Everest experience away from the busy trails.

Gokyo Lake is situated at an altitude of 4,790 meters and is formed in the Khumjung village of the Khumbu region. Gokyo Ri, which is located just west of the Ngozumpa Glacier, offers a panoramic view of four peaks over 8,000 meters: Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

You can see the entire Gokyo Valley, which is home to one of the tallest dwellings in the world. In addition, splendid views of other mountain ranges (Amadablam, Nuptse, Pumori, Mount, and many more snowy peaks) can also be enjoyed from Gokyo Ri. The duration to climb Gokyo Ri from Gokyo Lake will take around 4-5 hours.

Throughout Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek, you can embrace many splendors of Sagarmatha National Park as we pass through the heart of the Sherpa ethnic group and into the surroundings of fascinating snow-capped peaks.

The hiking trail also offers some of the most magnificent views of nature in the form of glistening turquoise lakes, mighty snow-capped mountains, picturesque forests, and rare Himalayan wildlife.

In addition to the natural beauty, you are sure to enjoy the peaceful cores of Sherpa community settlements, and villages including Namche, Machhermo, Dole, Thame, and much more.

Additionally, Renjola Pass presents you with all the thrill to make your trip more exciting & interesting. The adventurous trek offers you one of the most exciting and unforgettable trekking experiences.

The geographic isolation of the settlements here, the locals' caravan-like travel down the mountain to do business in Namche, and the massive glaciers all add a new dimension to the conventional trek. This trek is much less well-known and, as a result, less cramped than the traditional base camp trek.

This trek is identical to the Gokyo Lakes Trek, with the exception that instead of using the Cho La Pass, we use the Renjo La Pass (5345 meters/17,536 feet) from Gokyo Lakes. The Renjo La Pass allows trekkers to cross between Gokyo and Nagpala, eventually leading to a scenic walk through the towering mountains.

Even though the Gokyo Renjo La Trek will not include a visit to Everest Base Camp, you will have plenty of opportunities to see the majestic Mount Everest in its full glory! The emerald-green Gokyo Lakes, situated high in the Himalayas, are beyond anything else on the planet.

The altitude of the Renjo La Pass is 5,480 meters. Our route has an array of selection of lodging facilities in the form of teahouses, hotels, lodges, and tented camps to choose from.

The Difficulty Levels of Renjo La Pass Trek

With us, the Himalayan Trekkers, you'll be in safe hands even if you lack previous experience. Your fitness level, on the other hand, should enable you to travel all day. It is indeed recommended to do some cardio-related exercises like running and distance walking before the trek to prepare physically.

It's always a bonus if you've experienced some hiking or trekking before. In addition, to lessen the chances of acute mountain sickness, Renjo La Trek requires physical fitness and acclimatization.

Best Season for Gokyo Renjo - La Pass

The best season is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The rhododendrons are blooming in full glory during the Spring, and the skies are usually clearer in the Autumn months.

June to August (monsoon) are rainy months, while Himalayan views may be obscured and trekking trails are slippery. Winters are a no-no!

Hiking Route to Gokyo renjola Pass

After a 35-minute mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the Gokyo Renjo la pass trek begins. Himalayan Trekkers' guide will take you through Sherpa village, Chaurikharaka Phakding, and Namche Bazaar, where you will spend one day acclimating and exploring the region.

The trail then continues ascending via Dole Machhermo Gokyo Lake, and the next day, hike to the Gokyo Ri (5360 m) for breathtaking Himalayan scenery, and you will spend the night in Gokyo. Following breakfast the next morning, the guide will lead the trail flattened and up to Renjo La pass, then down to Lungden Thame, and finally on to Lukla.

Acclimatization & Travel Insurance

We need to allow our bodies enough time to adjust to the altitude because many of our treks take us high into the Himalayas. Therefore, acclimatization days are included in the itinerary of all of our expeditions.  It's advisable to gradually increase the altitude to combat altitude sickness.

We strongly recommend acquiring travel insurance. It is preferable to have insurance in the event of a medical emergency that necessitates a helicopter evacuation. Please make sure your insurance covers up to 6000m, accidents, theft while traveling abroad, and high in the mountains.
